> **Vorteile**: Unlike other SIS's, Alma actually looks and feels like it was made in the 2010's. The system is solid, and has essentially every feature a smaller school like ours would want (and many more that we don't need to use). The gradebook is excellent, and it's easy to transfer classes and students from year-to-year. Their customer service has been great (we accidentally deleted multiple report cards in different places the other day and they quickly and helpfully solved our issue by restoring to a backup), and they are continually adding features and improving the platform. And the cost has been at least 50% less than quotes we were getting from major competitors. Many reasons to switch to Alma.

> **Nachteile**: The latest transcripts update was helpful - there are still a couple of features we'd like on the transcripts front, but that's mostly because our school has a unique curriculum. This is totally just a personal preference, but I'd also like to be able to search for classes in the search feature in addition to contacts.

> **Vorteile**: We switched to Alma from Blackbaud and it was like night and day for our faculty and families. As a very small school with limited in-house tech staff, Alma was almost completely self explanatory. Between the chat and videos, almost all questions were answered. The Wednesday sessions online were also great. Once we did need major assistance to correct a major error in initial set up (we chose a 7 day week and not a 5 day week). The folks under the hood took care of the problem and got us back on track without losing any of our data. For the price, Alma provided every features we had needed and used in Blackbaud.

> **Nachteile**: The Bell Schedule concept should be reviewed VERY carefully before you get started to avoid problems. Our schedule was in flux when we started which added to our challenges. Once we got it set up properly it worked perfectly even with our non-standard schedules.
> 
> Ease of use. Great interface. Our faculty are not computer savvy and they were able to hit the ground running and help each other out as needed. Only occasionally did I need to intervene to answer questions or get someone on track (ie. weighting of their grades).

> **Vorteile**: As an instructional assistant, when substituting for lead teachers, Alma SIS is very helpful for taking attendance for the main class I assist. It keeps record throughout the year and reasons for absences are also noted. I like the ability to check the lead teacher's schedule to locate the appropriate lesson plans for each class. I also like the ability to report incidents when needed under the appropriate student's profile. When in doubt, I really like the 'search' by name option to locate students and staff members in Alma when needed

> **Nachteile**: I like the "My Classes" option for easy access to take attendance, however, it would be nice if there was a way to take and save attendance for all classes that I substitute for.

Alma SIS is very user-friendly and most helpful with some great features such as: &#10;Directory - in alphabetical order which could include photo of staff and students &#10;Calendar - school academic calendar for the year &#10;Classes - List of classes includes grade level, term, schedule, teacher and number of students&#10;Separate section for each teacher's class entitled "My Classes" which includes:&#10;Dashboard: Can include lessons and assignments; shows a weekly calendar (helpful to note upcoming quizzes, tests, etc.)&#10;Announcements - teachers can send out an email to parents through Team&#10;Attendance - provides and keep record of student attendance which includes reasons for absences&#10;Other tabs include Curriculum, Assignments, Gradebook, Roster, Setting and Admin panel &#10;There is a section for each student; overview, bio, schedule, contacts, classes, incidents (to keep record of any incident that needs reporting)&#10;Again, when all else fails, there's a 'Search' feature".

> **Vorteile**: I LOVE the customer service.  They are always willing to work with us and help us adapt the program to what we need.  I love the many different reporting features and how they each have a unique description that helps me find exactly what I need.  I also like that I can star the reports I frequently use.  I like that I am able to easily fill in grades in the "gradebook" tab, as well as having the opportunity to quickly report final grades at the end of the term.  I am also happy with the ease in resetting a password for a user who has forgotten theirs as well as the quick ability to change a username.  I appreciate that many users can have access to the same information (meaning a student and both of their parents can have their own accounts but access the same information on their child).  I think overall I am mostly impressed with Alma's support team, how quickly and professionally they respond, how they will not let me leave the conversation until they are satisfied that all of my questions have been answered and my concerns resolved, and I love that they are constantly updating, making the website better, and then sending out an email with all of the updates and detailed instructions on how to utilize them.

> **Nachteile**: I feel the website could be slightly more user friendly.  There are often times it takes longer than I would like to access the information that I need (a lot of clicking through redundant tabs and not a lot of short cuts).  I also wish it was easier for parents to understand the website.  I don't like that there is no easy way for a parent to access a student's missing work, instead having to look through each class and assignment to see what has and has not been turned in.  I also wish there was a way for us, as administrators and teachers, to see exactly what the parents see.  It is hard to give advice and support to a parent when their screen looks different from mine; and I often don't know if they can see everything that I can, like all of the notes and assignment descriptions and what not.  Otherwise, I am mostly happy with Alma.

> **Vorteile**: We love ALMA SIS at our school both for its easy connection for state reporting as well as how easy it is to use and train others on. Admin and teachers can easily manage their case loads and access important information. Customer support is easy and convenient on the homepage at all times, and someone is always incredibly prompt in returning messages. Those of us in the office love the ability to securely manage the kids information easily in the system and navigate details we have not had the ability to in previous SIS program.

> **Nachteile**: It was a bit of an adjustment not having a way to "call" parents with alerts, but our families have been able to get used to text and emails only. However, if phone calls became available in the future we would love it.
> 
> Overall, switching over to ALMA SIS was the best thing that we did at our school. We moved previously from PowerSchool to TeacherEase and then to ALMA, which has far exceeded our expectations in an SIS system. It is incredibly easy to use, manage, and keep up with. Customer service is one of the best I have ever experienced, and overall our staff and families love the change. Personally, the connection with our State reporting system and how easy it made it was the winning factor for me.
